A superb getaway in a campervan!
We recently opted for a van rental from Dax to visit the region, and our experience was just great.
Here's why we're giving it five stars:
Ease of recovery: Pickup of the van at the exit of the station was quick and simple, making it easy to start our trip.
Impeccable layout: The van was perfectly equipped, meeting all our needs for a comfortable stay. Even as newbies to this type of trip, we did not miss anything.
Pleasant driving: Driving the van was smooth and pleasant, which greatly contributed to our enjoyment of discovering the area.
Useful guide: We also opted for the additional guide, which proved to be a nice resource for discovering spots to see/restaurant/campgrounds in the region without getting too busy.
And as a possible area for improvement, we simply suggest providing new campers with additional information on campsite closing times, in order to facilitate their travel experience.

Great experience with The Family Van. Pick up the van close to Dax station, no surprise price once there and a very pleasant welcome. Kévin and Noémie took the time to explain to us the different functions of the van and were available throughout the trip. A big thank you to the whole team! It was our first experience in a van and we fully adhered. A team that listens with a roadbook that is very adapted to our requests, small addresses that we would never have found without Lisa's good tips and a super well-equipped van...

We decided to make the electric van our first experience in a van, because we had a very good contact with Kevin from Van Family at a trade show, a new but very dynamic company.
Overall, you were very satisfied with their services (creation of a super book for the trip; assistance throughout the stay...). The only negative downside is related to the network of electrical terminals, access to which is different depending on the distributor, especially difficult in Spain... which puts stress on the trip.

I rented a van from The Family Van to test the use on vacation before maybe buying one. Mission accomplished with this perfect stay on the Basque coast! As I am traveling alone, the team was great at answering my questions and gave me lots of very useful tips to make my stay a great memory. What is a tailor-made bike trip?
A tailor-made bike trip is a trip that is 100% personalized according to your desires, your level and your constraints. We create an adapted itinerary, include bike rental, organize accommodations and, if necessary, luggage transport.

What is the price of a tailor-made stay?
To benefit from the tailor-made option, a supplement of €20 per day is added to the rental of your bike and its equipment. This rate includes the discovery call, the creation of a personalized roadbook by our team, the adjustments necessary to perfect your itinerary, as well as access to our concierge service during your stay.
How does the tailor-made stay option work?
After discussing your travel project (budget, interests, essentials...), our team creates a tailor-made roadbook. It includes a detailed itinerary and daily recommendations for activities, exclusive addresses, and accommodation suggestions. You can then give us your feedback so that we can adjust the roadbook to suit you.
Can I choose the duration and the level of the course?
Yes, absolutely. Whether you want a 2-day loop or a linear itinerary over a week, we adapt each route to your pace and physical condition.
Do you book the accommodations for us?
Yes, we select for you accommodations adapted to cycle tourists (campsites, hotels, cottages, guest rooms), labeled Home Bike or equivalent, to guarantee comfort and safety.
Do you have several types of bikes for the stay?
Of course. We offer the rental of classic bikes, touring bikes and electric bikes (VAE), fully equipped for travel: bags, locks, helmets, repair kits, etc.
Do you offer a luggage transport service?
To date, we do not offer a luggage transport service. On the other hand, all our bikes are equipped with storage bags with sufficient volume to transport your belongings.
Can the stay be adapted for a family or a group?
Absolutely. We design stays for couples, families with children, groups of friends or businesses. We adapt the route, the bikes and the services to each profile.
An unexpected event or a need for assistance during the trip? What is The Family Bike Concierge Service?
Our concierge service accompanies you throughout your tailor-made stay. Whether it is for a change of itinerary, a restaurant recommendation, a technical problem or a fickle weather, our team remains available to advise and assist you at any time, 7 days a week and depending on the itinerary, a solution for troubleshooting or repatriation can be quickly put in place.
Where to pick up the bike?
Our agency is located a 1-minute walk from the Dax TGV station. This is where the start will take place. You can pick up your bike between 9:30 and 17:30.
An option to pick up and/or return your bike outside of business hours is available when you book.
What is the cancellation policy for your stays?
If your trip is cancelled, The Family Bike will charge the cancellation/resolution fees below:
• More than 30 days before departure: free cancellation;
• From 30 to 21 days before departure: 30% of the total price of the trip;
• From 20 to 14 days before departure: 50% of the total price of the trip;
• From 13 to 7 days before departure: 75% of the total price of the trip;
• From 6 to 3 days before departure: 80% of the total price of the trip;
• Less than 3 days (or no show): 100% of the total price of the trip;
